I agree that a pet is your friend so keeping it outside is weird.

But what if it’s a service dog, in military duty or police ?

These dogs often aren’t treated as friend and shouldn’t be..

I remember the story well. It didn’t ruffle me too badly, as I remember growing up with no seatbelt enforcement or riding in the back of a pickup, therefore my parents were MONSTERS!!!

As for my example above, I’m on a bit of an island. Even my wife -- true animal lover -- told me, “I feel ya, I do, BUT...” At least I didn’t go on a pointed rant, but I dunno. It’s probably no big deal :(

My dog would prefer her crate in the bed to being inside. She is way more excited when she gets in the truck than the cross trek. What she really loves though is the camper shell, so much room for activities...

Poor pooch

My dog hates car rides. The longest she’ll do is a five minute to the metro park by me. She trembles the whole time, pees before and after the ride. Have to keep a hand on her the whole time in the car or she’ll get even more antsy. Makes shifting interesting.
